Sharp AQUOS DX2 HDTVs Include Built-in 7x Blu-ray Disc Recorders

In Japan, Sharp announced five new HDTVs in its AQUOS DX2 lineup that each feature built-in 7x Blu-ray disc recorders. Of course customers in Japan will be the first to buy one of these new LCD HDTVs, which will be available in 26-, 32-, 40-, 46- and 52-inch sizes when they are released in September. The three largest models are said to feature 1080p resolution, 15,000:1 contrast ratio, and three HDMI inputs. The smaller 26- and 32-inch models offer 720p resolution, 7,000:1 contrast ratio and two HDMI inputs. Each of these new AQUOS DX2 HDTVs have an Ethernet port and support BD-Live, IPTV and Yahoo Japan. According to Electronista, these models include a program guide that lets you set automatic recordings for the two digital tuners and a terrestrial tuner, which are recorded in MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 format. A dual-layer 50GB Blu-ray disc is said to be capable of storing 30 hours of HD video.
Pricing for the 52-inch LC-52DX2 will be a steap $5,048, the 46-inch model - $3,993, and the 40-inch model will cost $2,943. Even the lower-resolution modles are pretty expensive, with the 32-inch model going for about $2,000, and the 26-inch model - $1,787.
